I finally worked up the courage to pick some lemons off my lemon tree. I'm such a newbie "gardener" so I'm always scared to cut my fruits because I don't know if new ones will ever come back! I love lemons and am always putting them on anything and everything- water, sauteed veggies, fish, sauces, dressings... this time around I think I'm going to try to make something sweet.

I love how the winter sky looks this time of year. The clouds come to visit but the sun is popping through, and the light is always changing, always moving. Simple things like that just make me really happy.

Thought I'd post some pictures we took during a trip to the Monterrey Bay/ Big Sur area over Thanksgiving weekend (Pictures from Monterey and Point Lobos to come later). One of the highlights was hiking with our friends Chris and Julie in Big Sur. What unbelievable beauty! They took us on the Ewoldsen Trail and I kept saying that I felt like I was in some sort of surreal scene on Lord of the Rings, hiking through the cool crisp mountain air, listening to the beautiful sound of water flowing downstream, and watching the way the sun was pouring out through the giant redwoods. It's so crazy how these gigantic trees and rocky mountains all coexist within a few steps of the ocean and her crashing waves. I definitely hope to return again- maybe on a camping in the summer time!

After a few warm days and sunshine, it looks like Southern California wants to be rainy and overcast again, and I'm loving it. As excited as I get for spring, I'm not sure I'm ready to say goodbye to the moody blues and purple grays of winter just yet.

With the cold weather and lack of sun, my house plants have all been slowly moving from various parts of my apartment to a single spot underneath a window that gets the most light. I'm hoping they can survive the winter, and that I'll get to see a few flowers come spring!

SAYING HELLO AGAIN

Wow, it's definitely been a while since my last post!  What I've missed the most about blogging is that it makes me remember the small day to day moments that make me happy.

The Super Bowl was last night and the sun is shining in Los Angeles like a warm day in June- it's really starting to hit me that winter might have totally blew right past by me!  Fortunately, I found  these on my camera from several weeks back when it was still freezing and raining,  It reminds me of the days when I was happy as a log spending my days wrapped in a blanket with a cup of coffee and surrounded by as many library books as they'd let me take home.  Hope we still have a few cold weeks left here!
